As such, the Chapter’s Education Department provides a complete series of entry- and journey-level knowledge and performance assessments or verifications as part of NCCER’s National Craft Assessment and Certification Program (NCACP).

KNOWLDEGE VERIFICATIONS (Written Tests)

The Indiana/Kentucky Chapter offers entry- and journey-level written assessments that evaluate the knowledge of an individual in a specific craft area and provide a prescription for upgrade training when needed. All assessments are based on the NCCER Curriculum for the craft tested. All written tests have been developed in conjunction with Subject Matter Experts from the industry and PROV™, NCCER’s test development partner.

Management assessments for experienced foremen and supervisors are also available.

Testing Fees:                    ABC Members  $100.00                               Non-Members  $250.00

PERFORMANCE VERIFICATIONS (Skills Tests)

ABC of Indiana/Kentucky also offers NCCER Performance Verifications (PVs) that assess an individual’s skill level on specific tasks in a specific craft area. PVs require a testing participant to demonstrate his/her skill level in a controlled, observable, and measureable manner and must be administered by a qualified objective performance evaluator.

Testing Fees:                    ABC Members                  $100.00 + Evaluator Hourly Rate + Testing Materials

Non-Members                  $300.00 + Evaluator Hourly Rate + Testing Materials

CREDENTIALS

After successful completion of a written or performance verification, an individual’s qualifications are tracked through NCCER’s web-based Registry. These industry credentials give employers confidence in the craft professional’s skill and knowledge. They also provide the craft professional with the following industry-recognized credentials to help build upon their career in construction.

  • Knowledge Verified: successful completion of the written assessment
  • Performance Verified: successful completion of the practical performance of a particular craft
  • Certified Plus: successful completion of both the knowledge verification and the corresponding performance verification
